Kildare Karate club

Kildare Shotokan Karate Club was set up in May 2013 by Sensei James Hughes 3rd Dan (Sandan).

It started in a small town called Brownstown located in Kildare. In September 2015, we moved to our new Dojo in the Kildare Town Educate Together Primary School.

The club currently has over 30 members, from beginners to Black belts, aged seven years and above. The club’s instructor is Sensei James Hughes 3rd Dan, with assistant instructors Sensei Mark Talbot 1st Dan (Shodan) and Sensei Elizabeth Fagan 1st Dan (Shodan). Over the years, our members have won national and international titles in traditional and also Irish Inclusive Karate where the club secured five world titles back in 2019 in both kata and kumite.

To date, our club strives to maintain a high standard of karate that is inclusive to all.
